Far from us and with a very rich and ancient culture,Marriage in Dubai reflects all these characteristics in a very special way and unlike anything you know. So, look at how this marriage is and what its characteristics are.

Three Days of Partying

One of the main features of how is the Dubai wedding is the fact that it is held in three days of celebration. That is, instead of our Western marriage that lasts for a few hours, at most, the Arab wedding is an event in the lives of families and guests.

The First Day

The first day of the Dubai wedding corresponds, quite far, to what we know as civil marriage. On that day, the groom turns to the brides family and asks the father or older man to marry the bride. If approved, the whole family celebrates drinking the sharbat, a fruit and flower drink made for the occasion.

The Second Day

The second day, in turn, corresponds to brides day, the bride is prepared for the celebration of her marriage and it is at that moment, even when the famous henna tattoos take place on the hands and feet of the bride. These tattoos can only be made by single women and is one of the biggest features of the Arabian bride. The henna tattoo, even, has a meaning that goes beyond the aesthetic appeal: it is believed that they bring luck, happiness and that distract the evil spirits that can disrupt the marriage. It is also not uncommon for guests to pour sugar into the bride and grooms head to prevent evil spirits from approaching.
In addition, in many cases men and women stay in separate halls. While women usually have fun with music and lots of dancing, men drink tea and talk for a while, even celebrating and congratulating the groom for their union.

The Third Day

Finally, the long awaited moment of the wedding party is here. With much joy and celebration, the engaged couple join several guests and celebrate their marriage. The bride arrives loaded on a kind of suspended throne and is highly acclaimed by all the guests. Again, there is exchange of alliances and a series of traditions and juras, such as the exchange of gifts between families, if applicable.Despite this, the wedding party tends not to be very long – unlike what happens here, for example, where the party can last a whole night.

The Brides Clothing

Generally, brides wear between 3 to 7 dresses throughout the wedding, but the white dress is mandatory during the celebration of the third day.It is also very important that the dress has mango, although short, covering the shoulders as the tradition dictates. The dresses should also be more discreet with almost no neckline, but the details can be quite flashy as with very bright and powerful jewels. Most Arab brides also wear crowns, tiaras and hair accessories, ensuring the look is even more suitable for the celebration.

The Grooms Clothing

As for the grooms clothing, the suit does not have to be an obligation since it is possible for the groom to wear characteristic clothes, such as the tobe, which is a characteristic white dress.Generally, however, the main item of the grooms dress is keffiyeh, a kind of checkered scarf worn on the head in order to highlight and enhance its culture.

Due to Corona, our Wedding date was decided just a month in advance. Our date could not be changed, and the time was short. Somehow, I stumbled across Maryam’s company. She was Alhumdulillah such a big blessing at that crucial time. She went over and beyond her role. From finding a great venue to negotiating an excellent rate with the organisers and a custom menu, she managed everything. Thank you so much Maryam.
